Holographic and anti-counterfeit labels combine visible or hidden elements, such as holograms, security inks and hot stamping, to authenticate a product and make it harder to copy. They are applied to the product or its packaging, and a hologram is checked by eye, without a reader.

Checking a hologram requires knowing the original as a reference (EUIPO); that is why layers are combined, such as an exclusive design, VOID, a unique number, QR and a scratch-off layer, and it is defined who verifies the label and how.
