Serialized QR / DataMatrix variable-data labels

Variable QR or DataMatrix labels carry a different code and a sequential number on each unit. They are printed by thermal transfer or digital variable-data printing on paper, PP, PET or vinyl.
On that basis, security layers (VOID, scratch-off or holographic), weather-resistant materials and code-quality grading can be added, as well as number ranges exclusive to the customer.

Reference regulations and standards
References usually consulted: ISO/IEC 15415 and ISO/IEC 29158 (code quality), ISO/IEC 15459 (unique identification, if adopted), GS1 specifications, Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) if the scan page is hosted, Regulation (EU) 2025/40 (PPWR) and REACH. Only their name and number are given.
The legal content of the label is defined by the customer; we reproduce the signed proof.
Frequently asked questions
What data must be sent to order variable-data labels?
A sample CSV, the type and content of the code, the numbering rules with duplicate checks and check digits, and the quality grade required. From there we prepare the variable-data file for the factory.
QR or DataMatrix?
They are the two most widely used two-dimensional codes, according to the EUIPO. The choice depends on the customer's reading system and on what the code must contain, for example a URL or a GS1 identifier.
How is code quality controlled?
If a quality grade is requested (ISO/IEC 15415 or ISO/IEC 29158), the evaluation method and sampling are agreed in the offer.
Who defines and approves the data?
The customer. They provide the data and approve the proof; production reproduces the approved file.
Can an anti-counterfeit layer be added?
Yes: VOID, scratch-off or holographic, as well as weather-resistant materials.
Can they be used outdoors or in demanding environments?
Weather-resistant materials can be proposed. Tell us the temperature, exposure and environment of use, and the final values are confirmed in the datasheet and in the offer.
