Custom residue-type (transfer) VOID labels

Residue-type (transfer) VOID labels leave the word VOID or OPENED on the surface when peeled, and the label itself also shows the sign of opening. The transfer can be full or partial. They are made to order, with the customer's logo, numbering and QR code, and die-cut to the dimensions specified.

They are a common choice for sealing boxes and equipment when the evidence should remain on the surface itself. If the surface must not be marked, the alternative is non-residue VOID labels.

In short

What it is: Residue-type VOID labels with logo, numbering and QR, die-cut to size.

What we need to quote: Surface it will be applied to: carton, PE bag, metal or plastic; Conditions of use: temperature and environment; Size and die-cut shape.

When to choose this type

Choose it when the proof of opening must remain on the surface: boxes, equipment, seals and surfaces that should show VOID or OPENED after peeling.

Do not choose it when the surface must not be marked or the label must be removable without a trace; in that case use non-residue VOID.

What can go wrong: on rough, low-energy or contaminated surfaces the transfer can be partial; test the label-surface combination before production.

Applications

The EUIPO anti-counterfeiting technology guide places these labels on goods under warranty, leased or serviced equipment and along the supply chain. Typical uses of this model:

  • Warranty seals on electronic equipment and IT assets.
  • Box closure in e-commerce and third-party logistics.
  • Cosmetics boxes and reusable distribution crates.
  • Sealing of documents and vouchers.
  • Repair services and asset management.

Materials and finishes

  • Film: PET 25, 36 or 50 µm; BOPP is also available.
  • Residue: full or partial transfer. For a label that leaves no residue, see the non-residue VOID labels page.
  • Colours: red, blue, silver or clear.
  • Printing: logo, custom VOID or OPENED text, serial number and QR code.
  • Die-cutting: shape and size to the customer's specification.
  • Format: on a roll or in A4 sheets for laser printers.

Customization options

  • Numbering: a unique serial number on each label, in the ranges defined by the customer.
  • QR or DataMatrix code to link each label to a record.
  • Variable-data file: from your Excel or CSV sheet we prepare the file for the factory, with duplicate checks and a record per batch.
  • Online verification page in Spanish, English and Portuguese, with a repeated-scan alert: optional; the scope is defined in the offer.

Frequently asked questions

What is a residue-type (transfer) VOID label?

It is a label that, when removed, leaves a message on the surface (VOID, OPENED, another text or a logo) and also shows the sign of opening. According to the EUIPO guide, the message stays invisible until the label is removed, and no reader or server connection is needed.

Residue or non-residue: which should I choose?

Residue if the sign must also remain on the surface; non-residue if the surface must not be marked. With the surface, the conditions of use and the quantity, we will propose the right option.

Can a VOID label prevent tampering?

No, it does not prevent it: it makes an attempt to remove it visible. Its usefulness depends on someone inspecting it and on a clear procedure of use, and it does not replace other security measures.

Can the labels be numbered and carry a QR code?

Yes. Each label can carry a serial number and a QR or DataMatrix code. If you send us your Excel or CSV sheet, we prepare the variable-data file for the factory, with duplicate checks.

Is authorization needed to use a logo or trademark?

If the design includes trademarks or security marks of another company, the holder's authorization is required. The customer provides it.
